More than 95% of people who rang a telephone hotline survey believe there was a conspiracy behind the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.

And there was an 87% 'Yes' response to the question: Do you think Diana would have married Dodi?

The Mirror put nine questions to its readers in the wake of this week's two TV documentaries examining theories about the crash which killed the Princess and the
son of Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed. A total of nearly 10,000 calls had been received, the paper revealed.

The ITV programme, Diana - The Secrets of the Crash, claimed to have unearthed new evidence questioning the belief that the crash was a straightforward accident.

It produced one theory that a powerful light available to the military had been flashed in the eyes of driver Henri Paul, who also died.

Channel 4's Dispatches looked at the involvement of Mr Al Fayed in supporting the conspiracy claims.

The Mirror said 2,783 callers had answered 'Yes' to the question: Do you think there was a conspiracy? Just 139 rang the 'No' line. This was 95.2% to 4.8%. Just
3.1% believed the crash was an accident.

The tunnel "flash" theory was backed by 92%, and 94% believed Henry Paul was paid by secret services.

More than four out of five - 81.3% - said 'No' to the question: Do you believe paparazzi photographers were involved?

The Mirror said it had a total of 9,877 calls.
